Very plain with little decoration.  Likely the real deal.

Rear sight has two peep and a notch.  Once again it looks like he meant business.

Front sight is a blade  dovetailed to the barrel.

Barrel is octagon (well decorated) and is 38 1/2” long.  It is also rifled and swamped.

Touch hole looks to have been well used.  Someone has cleaned it up and fill what appears to be deep pitting with brazing.

This one had a Bess lock that is no longer there.  By the look of the barrel it must have served it well for many years, before leaving it’s original home on a Brown  Bess  ☺

It also has the typical crack at the wrist that was repair many years ago and is quite stable.

Note:  the one brass barrel band does not belong to this rifle.  No idea how it got there before I took the pictures  It has been removed.  (it does not fit on this rifle)

The jezail or jezzail (Pashto: جزائل, ultimately from the plural form Arabic: جزایل, "long [barrels]") is a simple, cost-efficient and often handmade long arm commonly used in South Asia and parts of the Middle East in the past. It was popular amongst the Pashtun tribesmen, who deposed Shah Shuja.[1] Jezails were primarily used in the First and Second Anglo-Afghan Wars by Pashtuns.
