Genuine GI issue oiler for the M1 carbine.
Stamped IS which means that these were manufactured by International Silver Company between 1943 and 1945.
This company was the sole manufacturer for these oilers during the war. They made ALL of the oilers but up until January 1943 they would put different stamps on some of them which were then sent to the nine different manufacturers of the M1 Carbine. That is why until that date, for example, you would see an oiler stamped IW on a Winchester made rifle.
In Jan 1943 they decided to stop doing this and stamped them all with IS.
These oilers are original issue items from WW2 - they are parkerized and they have the proper leather washer.
Most have honest wear on the finish, indicating that these saw actual use at some point in their life. They are in good condition with no major flaws, dents, or rust.
