*Sold but I have several more beautiful percussion and cartridge antique revolvers for sale in my ads* This is a sharp shootin', cap blastin' Antique Remington New Army .44 with a custom fit period leather holster. Part of the 1858 model series, this is a US Civil war revolver, and was made from 1863-1875 to compete with the prevailing Colt 1851 revolvers of the time, costing slightly more due to high build quality which still shows. The 8" barrel makes for fantastic accuracy, and with .454" lead balls propelled by a black powder explosion these revolvers are nothing to take lightly. These could also be converted to fire .44 Colt with a cylinder and hammer for some centerfire cartridge action. As a pre-1898 Antique, this handgun can be owned by anyone over 18 with no PAL, registration, or unreasonable interference by JT and gang.

The mechanics of this gun are excellent with a nice lockup, indexing, and performance. The cylinder is in great shape, spins nicely, and is clean with fairly nice percussion nipples. The hammer sits at all 4 positions (lockup, half cock, locked half cock, and full) and has a very strong spring. The cylinder may slightly under-rotate so best to ensure the chamber is fully aligned before firing (this could also be improved by replacing the hand which is very simple). The ramrod works fine. The rifling is strong with intermittent oxidation down the 8" barrel. This revolver feels very nice in the hand, and it is very lucky that the matching holster has survived and kept with it throughout its 150 years.

All serials match 94 7XX on the barrel, the frame, and even penciled on the inside of the grips. Additionally there are several military cartouche marks including "N" on the seating lever, "W" (or "M") on the trigger guard, and "D" on the cylinder. The original walnut grips are beautiful and show nice grain with a slight hairline crack on the left one. The barrel writing is very clear with 3 line patent dates and Remington & Sons New York address.
