Although the Brown Bess was never produced as a “Trade Gun” does not mean that “English Trade Gun Smiths “did not refrain from using “Brown Bess” look alike designed parts to help enhance the sales of their guns.
The Natives would trade more furs for a “Brown Bess” than a common trade gun.
