Hello folks,

Up for sale is a gun I've enjoyed having in my collection.  A Type 99 Arisaka produced by Tokyo Juki Kogyo under the supervision of the Kokura arsenal.  Series number 37 was used exclusively by TJK while supervised by Kokura. This can be seen stamped on the rifle before the serial number.  The arsenal and manufacturer markings are stamped after the serial number.

This rifle is serialized as 54346 and was one of the last rifles produced by TJK before they shifted to bring supervised by the Nagoya arsenal. Produced around December of 1943 as Japan struggled to maintain it's war effort and was running low on resources.  Approximately 56,000 rifles were produced by TJK under the supervision of Kokura.

The crude nature of the last ditch rifles can be seen in the rough machining marks on the barrel and chatter marks on the stock.  Last ditch rifles are known for their wooden buttplates as metal became scarce .  The crude finishes, however, did not impact the rifles functionality or accuracy.  This rifle is chambered in 7.7x58 Arisaka and the rifling is crisp and pronounced.  The Chrysanthemum has been scrubbed off of the rifle likely when it was surrendered.  The Kanji proof mark can be seen on the underside of the stock behind the trigger-guard (see picture).  There is a small crack on the left side of the rifle under the rear site that does not effect the functionality of the stock and is merely cosmetic.  The bolt matches itself but does not match the serial number on the receiver.  The safety on the back of the bolt does match the types found on TJK last ditch rifles.  This is likely due to the bolts being taken out of the rifles as they were surrendered and not being matched back up when GIs brought the rifles back as war trophies.

Asking $1150 OBO.
