Back for sale as potential buyer backed out. Selling my Mk. IV* .22 trainer with matching date bayonet. A beautiful rifle throughout. I have had this in the collection for many years. It shoots very well and is splendidly accurate. The condition is good with a nice, conservative patina in places - strong deep blueing in 90%+. The stocks are in good shape with minor use and have the original finish. Stocks are matching with the nose cap. I believe the rest is matching to a different number. This is not the typical refurbished with shellac/varnish slathered on as I have seen them before, or repairs in the stocks or mismatching types of wood. All in all, you would be hard pressed to find a more honest and "as brought back by it's soldier" sort of condition rifle as such. Stocks are walnut with light flaming and the butt stock is the "L" marked long LOP stock. Mechanically, it is excellent and shoots/functions as it should. The bayonet shows a little more wear-and-tear than the rifle does but has no rust. Rifle is dated 1918 (prior to conversion to .22RF post war). All in all, sad to see it go but looking to fund a different rifle I've had an opportunity to purchase.
