most probably a Ruger 77 mk2 short action standard barrel weight stock.There appears to be enough wood to permit opening the channel for a heavier barrel.

By watching “Forgotten Weapons” I learned from “Gun Jesus” the stock stamp “QHG” makes this historical to Quebec.  This rifle is matching not only on the stock, bolt, usual places but even the screw heads are numbered to the gun.

 I have 6 different swedish mauser rear sights;

M/38 square notch (without “T” stamp), $43. The sight is adjustable between 100-600 meters and is graduated for the round nose (ogival-) ammunition.
