East German (GDR) AK-47 bayonet

 Brand new number matching East German (GDR) AK-47 bayonet Type 2 in OEM grease. Manufacturer engraved matching 6-digit numbers have been overridden in local military division, which is pretty typical practice and does not reduce its historical value.
Comes with scabbard, original leather belt hanger, and a retention strap.

This bayonet was designed for Russian Michael Kalashnikov's automatic rifle, also known as AK. It has experienced 2 basic modifications known as Type 1 and Type 2, reproduced and modified by almost all countries of the Warsaw Pact such as Poland, Yugoslavia, German Democratic Republic (GDR) and not only.

This particular bayonet is a unique, irreplaceable piece of history. During factory assembling, all hollows were filled by special polymer (seen on the pictures). Probably, this was additional rust protection against high humidity or salty ocean spray.

Well known that the steel hardness of the blade is much higher than the hardness of the 2mm+ barbed wire and is designed to cut it. The bayonet scabbard has a special blade locking mechanism to do so.
