From 1937 on, the wood grips were replaced by bake-lite grips which vary in colour between dark brown to orange red.

These bayonets may also be found with the pommel removed and the blade shortened to about 150-200 mm.

Normally also the scabbards are shortened. These are German bayonets which are altered by allied troops for fighting knives and they cannot be fixed to a rifle.
