This versatile Aegis Tanto Point Folding Knife from SOG features a durable, 3.5" partially-serrated AUS 8 stainless steel blade that flips out of a 4.8" glass-reinforced nylon handle. The opening mechanism utilizes a color coded safety button which helps to ensure that the knife remains in the closed position when intended. However, when this folding knife is opened, its SOG Assisted Technology's opposing high-tension coil springs progressively increase the force applied to the thumb stud for easy, near-instantaneous blade deployment.

The knife features serrations that can be used to cut rope or coarse textiles, as well as a tanto point design, which increases the amount of blade area behind the tip. This results in a tip that is particularly well-suited for piercing and puncturing, plus a secondary point along the blade's edge that is effective for cutting flat objects. A black, titanium nitride finish on the blade is highly resistant to scratching and peeling, while the handle is similarly durable against impacts and abrasions, plus chemicals such as motor oil, transmission fluid, as well as methanol. When subjected to extremes of hot or cold, the handle's material also promotes a comfortable grip. Jimping positioned along the spine of the handle enhances thumb stability and pressing force for both forward, and reverse edge-out grips; and a reversible, low-carry belt clip provides a convenient carrying option.
