For Sale: Bulgarian single-shot break-action smoothbore military 26.5mm Flare Gun SPSH-44
This gun was designed by G. S. Shpagin as a domestic replacement of the previous multi-countries models of the signal pistols used by Red Army. The first version of the flare gun in 26mm SPSH-43 was made in 1943. The second 26.5 mm version SPSH-2 of this pistol was made in January 1944. After tests and trials SPSH-2 flare gun was officially adopted as the new standard Red Army signal pistol as SPSH-44. Later it became the standard flare gun in all Warhaw Pact countries with minor modifications made by Czech, Hungary and Poland.
During manufacturing, tests and military trials these flare guns had multiple modifications (geometrical proportions, grades of steel, thicknesses of material, shapes of the stamps, surface conditions, strength of springs, diameters of the pins etc.) to reduce the cost and/or increase the reliability.
For sale is the one of the rare originally designed Bulgarian flare guns with 20% increased diameter of trigger pin and low manufacturing number 00129. Bluing is original and nice. It has very strong springs for both break-action lever and fire hammer. The gun is in perfect condition, the locking mechanism works great and provides very tight contact of the barrel with the seat with no barrel play at all. The bore is in very good condition, smooth and shiny. It reflects the objects as a mirror (please see the picture). The only disadvantage is small cheap on the left grip (shown on the picture) which is typical for this kind of flare guns.
