Antique Engraved .44 American Western Bulldog Revolver with IVORY grips, ammo, and papers

*edited with details on where to buy .44 american ammo in Canada* This antique ivory grip pre-1893 snubnose with papers is a beautiful take on the Webley British Bulldog no. 2 platform made in Liege Belgium and sold to American markets for defense and utility. According to wikipedia, these 5 shot Western Bulldogs were also called Frontier Bulldogs and American Bulldogs, and the base models sold in Sears-Roebuck catalogues starting at $3.80 in the 1880s. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frontier_Bulldog

This one is far from base model, with custom engraving and beautiful ivory grips. The 5 shot revolver shoots .44 American which is similar to .44 russian and can be purchased or reloaded using common .41 magnum brass. Antique load .44 american rounds can be ordered by phone or email from www.rustywood.ca, he takes about 2 weeks to prepare an order. I will include about 25 black powder loaded rounds from buffalo arms if you have a PAL and about 20 spent casings. If this were modern, the short barrel would make it prohibited but luckily as an antique, this piece of history can be owned without registration, which is a nice option given the gun laws of modern Canada.

The mechanics are functional, operating in single and double action consistently. She shoots powerfully with quite a bit of kick which is expected for such a small gun. Indexes quite reliably with a fair lockup and minimal wiggle while firing.

The finish has about 90% original nickel and is overall fair and shiny. Hand engraved on frame and grip strap, with several proofs including a Belgian Liege pre-1893 stamp on the cylinder proving antique status. The ivory has beautiful grain and colour, with no scratches or blemishes but a small corner missing on the left grip as pictured. The letters "L & T" are stamped on the right side of the frame and it reads "WESTERN BULLDOG" on the top strap.
