*price drop* The Colt 1849 Pocket revolver was an important part of American and firearms history. A "little iron" rather than a big one. Based on Colt records, this gun was manufactured in 1871 in the wake of the Civil War. As an Antique, this revolver needs no license or registration to buy in Canada and can generally be used where a non-restricted would be alright. All you'll need to get her going on the range or in the woods are percussion caps, powder, and .31 caliber lead balls which are readily available.

Mechanics are sound on this gun. The hammer has both half- and full-cock, a strong mainspring, pleasant trigger pull, and lockup is fair. The cylinder indexes consistently with the occasional hang up which seemed to stop after I cleaned the arbor. Barrel removal and disassembly are easy for cleaning. The ramrod lever works smoothly for making sure shots are seated after a day on the trail. The 4 inch barrel has strong rifling.

This is a nice clean gun with an even patina. The original walnut grips are in beautiful shape and the brass looks good. Matching serials 3284xx can be found on the butt, trigger guard, frame, barrel, and cylinder dating to 1871. The barrel reads "ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA" and the left side is stamped "COLTS PATENT" & "31 CAL". The percussion nipples are fair and intact. The screw heads are nice which is uncommon on a 150 year old gun.
