ANTIQUE .44 cal ROGERS & SPENCER REVOLVER

ANTIQUE US Civil War contract  ROGERS & SPENCER .44 cal percussion revolver.  Only a bit over 5000 of these were manufactured in 1865 just as the war ended and the lot were put into storage brand new until sold as surplus in the early 1900’s.  This is why there are examples to be found like this one in such nice condition.  
Nice finish, nice original grips, very nice bore.  Beautiful solid revolver that is functional as is with the exception that the bolt spring has lost some tension over the 160 year life of the revolver and the bolt doesn’t always catch the bolt slot when cycling.  A very simple and cheap issue to resolve with a simple re-tempering of the bolt spring.  It just needs to be be strengthened a bit.  I dropped the price by far more than any reasonable smith would charge for heat treating it and there are lots of online videos showing how to do it at home, just not something I have experience with so I’m leaving it be.  This particular revolver is priced well below similar condition examples sold in Canada in the past 18 months or so ($4600 to $5800 as I recall).   I’m not selling it because I don’t want it but so I can get something else I want more, so if it doesn’t sell I’m happy to keep it.  Simple as that.  Feel free to make an offer but no low  ballers please.   For local buyers I have a box of .454 cal round balls and Pyrodex that can be purchased as well (or tossed in if sold for asking price) PLEASE SEE VIDEO LINK FOR A BETTER LOOK.
