Up for sale is a 2nd Model Colt Dragoon. Really cool (and really big) part of Colt’s history. This serial number dates back to 1851!
A fairly uncommon antique in Canada, this gun is in good overall shape with some pitting and signs of wear. Near the hammer, a small piece of the back strap has broken off near the screw. Cylinder does have some pitting on one side, but the cylinder scene is still around 50% visible.
Timing and lockup are ok, with some minor play in lockup. Timing sometimes a bit off if pulling back the hammer slowly. Hammer notches are pretty worn but it still holds half and full cock solidly.
Most main parts are original on this gun including the grips which still have faint markings. The barrel I believe is a more modern replacement, the bore is very good in it and does not show the same signs of use the rest of the gun does. There is pitting in the cylinder chambers. The ramrod appears to be original but I believe the main barrel assembly has been replaced (and then remembered to match). I could be wrong about this, but I don’t know if there is another way the barrel interior could have been refinished. The trigger is also not original.
With this listing I will include a holster, as well as a new (used) hammer. The hammer will require fitting in order to be used if desired.
Asking $7500 obo shipped. A payment plan could be an option if desired, would also consider partial trades of other firearms, antique or otherwise.
Before making payment I would offer to do a video call with the potential buyer to further show them the gun and answer questions they may have.
If you actually plan to fire this please make sure it is inspected by someone qualified.
