First introduced in 1861 and made until about 1874, the Smith & Wesson no.2 was a popular personal side arm for many union officers. The no. 2 was owned by numerous famous Americans like Wild Bill Hickok and General George Armstrong. This version is the 5 inch barrel, 3 pin version. It is in very good condition and although very little of the blue is left, it shows an attractive, even patina. The surface is not pitted and there are no gouges. The markings on the barrel and cylinder are crisp. The action is crisp, hinge is tight and the cylinder properly indexes. The grips are fine with most of the original varnish and they show no cracks or missing chips. The barrel is fine, bright with sharp rifling and very minor spots. The gun is rated very good. This gun is an antique so no pal is required. I have the RCMP letter for it too. Priced at $1700 obo
