Whitney Pocket Model Revolver in 31 Percussion, 4" barrel, 5 shot. Manufactured circa 1858-1862 Civil war era! These percussion pocket revolvers were private purchased by soldiers and family members during the American Civil War as an extra back up weapon to better their odds of survival. Many manufacturers were trying to ride the success of the famous Colt 1849 Pocket Revolver. Whitney was in business with Samuel Colt for a season. The Whitney's were definitely one of the better quality competitors of the time. This revolvers half and full cock work well. Timing is good as long as you cock the hammer at a reasonably slow rate, if you pull hammer back rapidly the cylinder will overtime a bit, as long as you go slow on hammer pull there's no issue. Lockup rates good with some slight common movement but nothing concerning. Grips are original and show handling marks. Exterior has some light surface rust. Antique status in Canada, no PAL required to purchase or own. Will include an RCMP FRT printout showing antique status in Canada. $1325 includes Free Shipping. If you have any questions or need more pictures or video please feel free to ask.
