This is an AUSTRIAN AUGUSTIN MODEL 1842 Percussion Musket, originally issued in tube lock, but converted to percussion in the 1850s
Yes theys rifle was used in the civil war and where bought to fill in the need for more rifles .
They's Guns where shortened By the military for Cavalry use .
Bore is in ok shape . Very usable with lots of rifling there .. could use a good cleaning .
Stalk has a crack on the left side . does not effect anything .
I have not taken this gun apart .
I have shot it with a .69 ball with thick patch and it works as it should
gun was converted from tube lock to percussion .
