Howdy Gunpost! I've got a Scandinavian beauty for sale. This rifle is in really good shape, bright sharp bore (there's some fuzz in the barrel in the pic. ignore it)  and a smooth action. There's some wear on the stock and a ding (pictured) nothing major really. It has an awesome Soderin diopter target sight with a round hollow target sight insert in the front sight which can be swapped out for other inserts if desired (I don't have any sorry). This thing is largely in original condition with some a few mismatched parts like the magazine and trigger guard, but the bolt matches the receiver. There's some neat stickers on it such as the previous owner's name: Erik Erikson. That's gotta be one of the most Scandinavian names out there hahaha. And his club name the Österlens Skytteförening who are still and active club and even have a Facebook page. And a cool vintage Norma weapons info sticker announcement which roughly translates to:

"If you shoot silver match, or the new longer barrel,  Aker's gun grease is recommended for use in your barrel and mechanism weapon grease exp. by the Norwegian Defense Research Institute - FOA Norma Weapons service"

A little history on CG-63's:

In the post-World War II era, as military needs evolved and the focus on bolt-action rifles for combat decreased, many countries, including Sweden, looked to repurpose or enhance existing firearms for target shooting and training purposes. The CG63 (Carl Gustafs stad Gevärsfaktori 1963) emerged from this context, where surplus military rifles were upgraded for precision shooting.

The upgrades typically involved:

  • Fitting the rifles with heavier, more accurate barrels.
  • Installing new, more precise sights (often with diopter sights for target shooting).
  • Sometimes modifying the stock for a better fit and comfort for the shooter, often including adjustable components.
  • Tuning the trigger to have a lighter, more consistent pull.

These rifles retained the 6.5x55mm caliber and were built on the strong, reliable Mauser action, making them highly respected in shooting competitions. The CG63, alongside its successor the CG80, became a popular choice for target shooters, especially in Sweden and surrounding regions where the tradition of shooting with Mauser-based rifles is strong.
