This is a very interesting 1899 Long Lee MKI* rifle. Receiver and barrel matching, bolt and rear sight mismatched. Buttstock marked MD indicates Militia & Defense of Canada. Top of the receiver stamped C↑G. I didn’t find reference about this marking but ChatGPT says it’s Canadian government issue. There is a N mark on the left side of stock socket indicates Navy use. The barrel bears a South Africa marking and stamped 11/17, possible rebarreled in 1917. Both metal and wood are in good condition, no rust or pitting found. No major damage on the wood except top handguard cracked. Mag is correct linked style. I haven’t shot it but manually cycles well. Bore has some shine and crisp rifling. See Flicker album for all details. Asking $1950, shipping on buyer if needed.
