The full name of this special firearm is Rubi Extra Venturini Mod. 65 Larga.

These super high quality 22LR semi autos can be directly compared with the more widely known Gevarm A7, but the Venturini is actually the better of the two. Both the Gevarm A7 (and the Rubi Venturini) have the advantages that they both fire from an open bolt. However, the Gevarm has an unusually short mag well – and can only be fed with Gevarm mags – which are very hard to find and - when available - are about $300. The Rubi Venturini can use Gevarm mags, BUT many other common mags can otherwise be easily adapted to fit it (like the Mossberg 712 Pinkster, Jaeger, Armscor, Squires Bingham, H&K mags, etc.).

As for the advantages of an open bolt gun, these firearms operate the same way as a Sten gun, a Thompson , Uzi, etc. – except that the operation is semi only.  Open bolt guns are fantastic because the design is so simple; typically involving no more than three, or four moving parts.  You insert the magazine in the gun and pull the bolt back – and it stays locked back.  When you press the trigger, this releases the bolt – which runs forward and strips around from the magazine and fires it from the chamber.

The force of the bolt spring driving the .22 round into the chamber – and firing it – is so powerful that misfires never occur. The fired cases show a "firing pin” impression that is the full diameter of the base. Obviously, if you have bad ammo - where the primer compound isn't properly spread throughout the rim - you have at least double the chances that the gun will still fire reliably.

What else do open bolt guns have going for them? That is easy.  As soon as a loaded mag is inserted in the gun, it is ready to fire - no need to rack a round into the chamber!  You still have the option of making the gun safe with a safety, but if you need to carry the gun unloaded and make a quick shoot, you just have to pop the mag in the gun and you can take a shot at that partridge, or whatever.

To make the loaded OPEN BOLT gun safe, all you need to do is just pull out the mag!  You don't need to shuck that extra round out of the chamber that is, otherwise, there ready to fire.  In a normal hunting situation - with an open bolt semi - if you have to climb over a fence, or get in a truck or cross a road, all you have to do is pull the mag out of your gun - and it's TOTALLY safe. And once you've cross over that fence, pop the mag back in.

Mag and 2-7 scope included.
