I have a Winchester 1894 Take down model that was made in 1895 according to the serial # and Winchester production records. Its a short rifle with a 21" octagon barrel in 30 WCF (30-30) making it the first year the 30 WCF (30-30)was produced. The take down feature works but is very tight. The action functions perfectly and is nice and snug. It has 70% of the original bluing on the metal, and about the same amount of finish on the wood. There are no cracks in the the wood. It has a Lyman tang sight and a an express sight on the barrel. Unfortunately 2 of the 3 leaves on the express sight are missing. The leaves and sight are available on line. The stampings of the Winchester address, caliber, patent dates even the one on the take down lever are bright and crisp. This is an beautiful survivor.
