purchased this rifle new in January of 2025 along with the newest Athlon offering a heras 6-24X56 and Vortex pro rings ( THESE ALONG WITH THE BIPOD ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE BUT CAN BE PURCHASED WITH THE RIFLE. THEY ARE NEW ALSO ) The rifle shoots very well and is capable of extreme accuracy as can be seen in the photos however the rifle simply does not fit me well at all when shouldered. The target with the coin is SK standard plus the other is SK high velocity match . shot at 100 yards, no wind at a temperature of 6 C. I shot Eley, CCI and others but SK was the winner by a big margin. The compensator ( not a brake ) reduces muzzle flip and will shrink the groups by at least 1/4 of an inch. The Ruger trigger with the Savage style blade could not be adjusted down from 4.5 Lb on my Wheeler trigger gauge, way too heavy and thus I got a Timney. The timney trigger is not a true drop in unit as advertised by Timney since several parts of the Ruger trigger have to be transferred over to the Timney. The bolt lock pin, spring, connecting bar, e-clip and safety button need to go from the Ruger to the Timney. The housing of the Timney is slimmer than the Ruger resulting that the bolt lock pin rests against the action and can not be moved. I MUST ADD THAT THIS ISSUE IS KNOWN TO TIMNEY AND THEY HAVE KNOWN ABOUT IT FOR A LONG TIME. I was not aware of this. The rifle is therefore on fire at all times. some minor work by a qualified smith would cure the issue. To me it is not a big deal since I had guns with defective safeties and I do not put my 100% trust in them. but it is a flaw you should be aware of. The trigger is set at a hair over 1 Lb and breaks like glass each and every time with zero creep and or over travel. It is obvious I set the trigger for bench rest shooting and not for field use at this time as I would have set the trigger heavier. Since the rifle does not fit me well to my liking there will be no field use at all.The rifle does everything it is supposed to do and will function without an issue the rifle comes with the Timney trigger, the original Ruger trigger the compensator and cheek riser and shipped for 975. Scope, rings and bipod another Thousand. So please DO UNDERSTAND THAT YOU CAN NOT SWITCH THE SAFETY FROM SAFE TO FIRE AND VISA VERSA. as always thanks for looking
