What Mauser presented before the end of the century, is a 16 lug(two row of 8 lugs), rotating bolt face, straight pull bolt action, with quick changeable barrel!
None other are like this rifle, straight pulls are not multi row lugs. Multi row lugs with quick change barrel at best(Sauer 101 and up), not straight pull.
They certainly not making things like the 90s anymore. Butter smooth bolt pull, tang safety.
30-06 is darn good round. NATO went with 7.62X51 after WW2 it's because 7.62nato preform close to US M2 ball ammo 3006. But M2 ball is under loaded! What's why commercial 3006 is too hot for Garand. In short, 3006 today has been more potent than what the GI got.
