Lee Enfield ENVOY rifle action fitted with new, original Enfield-made hammer forged barrel.  This barrel is breeched up in a very unusual way giving almost complete enclosure of the case and is VERY accurate.  The rifle has had maybe 50 rounds through it since rebarreling and restocking in custom walnut with rosewood caps.  The original barrel, stock and sights were sold to someone in the USA about 30 years ago.  These cold hammer-forged barrels were some of the best 7.62mm NATO barrels ever made; with suitable ammo this rifle is easily 1MOA and I would expect that to be true to a 1000 yards or more.  The reason No.4 rifles were used in international competition even into the 1990s is their ability to "compensate" for inconsistencies in cartridge trajectory, thus levelling out vertical dispersion.   These barrels were known to fire as many as 5000 rounds before significant decline in accuracy and are the same barrels used on the Lee Enfield ENFORCER and L41A1 sniper rifles.  This barrel was sold by RSAF Enfield  unthreaded for fitting to other types of rifle action and has British proof marks.  Threaded,  fitted and bedded by a highly experienced expert and free-floated past the chamber.  The rifle is set up as a single shot, but the original trigger guards is included also if a person wanted to open up the forend and fit a magazine or use a different forend.  The receiver, bolt and bolthead are the originals with the original 19 ton British proof marks for 7.62mm NATO.  Australian Central sights with correct base and iris aperture are included and a S&K no-drill scope mount.   The foresight is the stock A.J. Parker "Matchmaker" with insert.  Only about 600 of these rifles were converted at RSAF Enfield.   I've never given the rifle the use it deserves and there's no point it sitting in my lockers forever.
