This is a 1942 SVT-40. This rifle functions excellent and was accurate for me at 200 yards, with no misfires or jams with 120 rounds. This rifle comes as complete as it did when purchased: rifle, magazine, pouch with cleaning kit and rod.
This sale includes ammunition for this rifle—1,640 rounds of Russian surplus 7.62x54R 147gr. 'silver-tip'—consisting of two wooden crates with two metal cans in each crate, containing 440 rounds in each can. One crate is still sealed; one can has been opened and 120 rounds were used with a 100% success rate. This ammunition has been well stored and is free of moisture.
I do not need to sell this rifle, I will probably regret doing so if I do, but I have no plans to use it. These rifles will always be available from somewhere but this original ammunition is rare; I can find plenty of Chinese 7.62x54, but no Russian surplus in comparable amounts. I consider this ammunition to be valuable because of it's age, perfect functioning condition, and rarity.
If you know of recent or current offerings of this rifle and/or ammunition being sold for less, share them. Until then, I look at it like this: I see people getting from $700 to $1200 for a similar rifle; I am satisfied with $900 for this rifle, then I want $1 per round.
• If you buy the rifle, you buy the ammunition; if you buy the ammunition, you buy the rifle.
