Bought this as a resto-project and ended up tapping out and finding a better project lol. This is not a Westley Richards gun, but a William Richards gun (the brother).
This gun was made between the late 1890s and the early 1900s. Dual triggers, dual hammers. 2-1/2" chambers (will chamber 2-3/4 target load), 30" Barrels, IC choke in both barrels. Barrels have Belgian proofmarks with English testing marks under the forend.
The twist steel barrels are quite beautiful, though this gun has no shortage of problems.
- The barrel is off the face by about .017
- The right hammer does not cock
- Both hammers are held on by mismatched screws with washers
- Part of the wood by the left hammer is epoxied in place from a split
- There is a dent by the choke in the left barrel, and a dent about halfway down in the right barrel
- Butt plate is chipped
- Bores are in mediocre shape, they do have pitting, but they are still shiny
This is a resto project to the extreme. Could be turned into a coach gun, or would make a good mantle piece.
The gun would be worth a lot of money if restored properly, as you do not encounter a William Richards gun very often at all.
Price is shipped OBO, would gladly trade for a 28 gauge single shot, 22/6mm Flobert, or anything else quirky, cheap and/or unique lol
