Hepburn Gale and Ross 1918 Military Belt

My wife picked this up at the Calgary show and has changed her mind. It has the. /|\ stamp as pictured but we aren’t sure what it was used for. Leather is in great condition, as well as the straps and buckles. Looks like there were straps or pieces for loops or buckles factory stitched which have since been removed.
