SA Dagger (by Christianswerk of Soligen)
An early 1930's (believed to be 1933) SA dagger, complete with scabbard, and leather hanger.
The blade: The etched motto on the blade, reads ‘Alles fur Deutschland’. The maker mark on the blade is “Christianswerk” of Solingen. There is pitting and some scratching to the blade on both sides, but the motto and makers mark are quite clear and very readable.
Handle and cross guard: There is a mark of ‘Nrh’ on the cross guard, which is for "Niederrhein". The handle is complete, but shows wear from handling and it has some minor chipping. The handle is loose and needs tightening. Research indicates that it needs a special tool/wrench to tighten it, so I have not tightened it (other than finger tight).
Scabbard: The scabbard shows wear but no dents. All four screws are in tact and appear tight. The fit of the blade into scabbard is nice and tight. Most of the brown paint is worn off but it has a good patina. There is a little bit of pitting.
Leather hanger and clip: The original leather hanger is complete and the leather is soft considering its age.
In terms of the daggers history, I believe the dagger was owned by my grandfather (who was from Austria). It was passed down to me but I never met him.
I am located in Kamloops BC. I can also arrange to meet/deliver to Vancouver area as we visit regularly.
