This is a Lefaucheux model 1870 single and double action revolver with original leather holster, made in Belgium between 1870 and 1893 as told by the pre-1893 Liege proof. This is the lesser of two of these revolvers I have - check my ads if you want a nicer option or to buy a pair. Originally chambered for 9 or 10 mm French CF caliber, this revolver will chamber and shoot .44 Russian which fits cleanly in the cylinder and which I can work into the deal if you have a PAL. As a pre-1893 antique, this can be owned without any registration or paperwork. Comes with digital FRT showing antique status.
The mechanics work great including the side gate, ejector rod, cylinder, and single and double action operation of the hammer. The cylinder spins smoothly at half cock. This revolver features a unique open top design, held together by a threaded cylinder arbour and a screw in the bottom of the frame.
The surface of this revolver is clean with a pleasant patina and no pitting. The checkered dark hardwood grips are fair and strong, with only minor dings/wear. The bore of the 6" barrel has sadly seen some unresolved black powder fouling with only scarce traces of the original rifling remaining.
