Gritting my teeth at letting this one go, but something else is coming up and I need the funds. This is a beautiful Smith & Wesson 1st. Model Double Action in .44 Russian. It has the less common 6-1/2" barrel and it sports period "pearl" grips ( faux pearl or pearlite). It does have the 1-9/16" cylinder like most later run of this pistol but I've checked and it will not chamber a .44-40 round so for sure, it's in .44 Russian. I had it reblued as the nickel was mostly gone and cosmetically, it was ugly as sin. Add to that, the nickel was not factory original but a later refinish. All serial numbers match and the mechanics are excellent in half cock and single and double action. Timing, advance, and indexing are all excellent and there is almost zero cylinder slop when it's in battery. The chambers are excellent and I would conservatively rate the bore at 8-8/12 out of 10. These are getting more and more uncommon in this condition.
