Cased Civil War Relic
Allen & Thurber Second Model and the first firearm to be called the "Pocket Rifle", a single-shot under-hammer percussion pistol. Civil War issued by loving family members to their loved ones for self-defence. The name likely derives from the fact that most pistols of the day did not have rifled barrels, rather than any claim to extraordinary size. The hammer located on the bottom of the weapon allowed for target sights to be mounted on the top axis of the barrel. Circa 1837–1847 by Allen & Thurber. Barrel measures 3.35 inches & bore is 36 cal.
