William Bishop 1800-1820.  Located at 170 Bond Street London grew into a well-known establishment known as "Bishop of Bond Street". Manufacture Flintlock Pistols Long guns and trade guns. This is a typical long barreled trade gun which never made it into native hands. The Bartrum family which we purchased it from said their Great Grandfather used it only for hunting grouse. He purchased it from Rupert’s Land post of Churchill Rivers. “John Bartrum” purchased it because it was an inexpensive trade gun which he could well afford. The Great Granddaughter said he would polish it every night in front of the fireplace. Somewhere along the line possibly 1829 the gun was converted from flintlock to percussion cap. All this history was handed down to her from the family Bible recordings. The bore is .720 x 41 in. barrel. Full length stock in great condition, Brass trigger guard, butt plate; & ram rod tumbles. Lock engraved “Bishop Warranted”
