The repeating rifle developed by Mauser from his original bolt action single shot rifle was formally adopted by the German government in 1884.
Officially designated as Infantry Repeating Rifle M. 71-84, it used the self same 11 mm (.433) cartridge (.43 Mauser) as the earlier single-shot model Infanterie-Gewehr 71
The overall condition is antique Excellent +.
Very nice blued finish. The action is strong and tight. The bore is bright with sharp rifling.
All marks are legible and clear. All numbers match, and this example is “1887” dated.
Complete regimental markings on tang of buttplate . Top of barrel marked Amburg
The wood is in Excellent condition, ALL cartouches are clear in original condition (137 years old)
The 8-round tubular magazine made this the German Army's first repeating rifle
