3,000 .46 rim fire rifles were manufactured by Ball & Williams for a July 1864 and March 1865, contract with the state of Kentucky. This example has "KENTUCKY" on the top of the frame, matching serial numbers at the breech, musket style forearm, and a carbine style stock and butt plate.
There is damage to the rear site and stock, as well as the fore stock, which is shown in the photos.
