Post ’64 push-feed Winchester M70 made in New Haven, CT. Serial number indicates manufacture in 1977 according to winchesterguns.com.
Rifle is chambered in 7mm Rem. Mag, with a 24” barrel. There is some nice figure in the wood butt. An aftermarket, extra-long, grind-to-fit recoil pad is on the back, while a clamp-on muzzle brake occupies the front, giving this gun a very long feel.
A Nikon Active Target Special 4-12x40 scope is mounted in 2-piece weaver rings. The scope is marked as made in the Philippines. The front sight has been removed but the factory rear sight is still in place. A simple homemade leather cheekpiece is currently laced on the stock, should be easy to remove.
Condition looks very, very good. There are numerous small rub marks and chips in the lacquer finish on the wood, but no gouges or dents of any significant depth. The metal likewise has no dings or dents. There are a couple of very small rust blooms, on the magazine floorplate and around the vent hole in the front receiver ring. The front sling swivel stud is spinning loose and should be glued in.
Asking $1000 for the rifle and scope as pictured. Price is for a face-to-face deal in Edmonton, can be shipped within Canada at extra cost. This is an exercise in reducing a collection, so not interested in any trades.
Firearms PAL required to purchase, and will be verified with the Firearms Centre. Reasonable requests for more information by phone call, video call, or specific pictures are welcome.
