For just three years in the 1960s, Marlin produced nine of their models in special variants for sales in Canada. Ranging from rimfire guns to full size 336's, these Royal Canadian guns are extremely collectable.
In 1961-1963 smaller numbers of Model 56, 57, typically about 200 of these were made.
Today these 'Maple Leaf Marlins' are a sought after piece for collectors.
The short, smooth action used a cam-and-roller accelerator system that allowed a lever movement of less than 1½ inches, 25 degree throw. This short movement allowed the shooter’s hand to remain on the grip of the stock, and was much faster than a traditional lever action. Overall great condition, other than scratches on the top of the receiver and minor handling marks. $880 plus shipping.
The picture shows the action fully open. Super short throw, hand does not leave the stock. Just a flick of the fingers opens it.
