Here is a rare piece of early 19th century craft work. Blunderbuss were used in British military training and sometimes brought in the ships against pirates and enemies. This beauty was produced by George Davison in Alnwick, a British gun maker in 1807-1826. The barrel is made by brass with his name on the top. Flintlock unmarked. Folding bayonet is spring loaded and able to self locked when latch released. Buttplate tang and trigger guard are engraved and wrist is checkered. Both metal and wood are in great condition except a crack at tip of the stock. No rust or pitting on the steel lock nor damage on brass trigger guard etc. Checkering looks original and excellent crafted. Lock works as it should. Barrel also in great condition, no major damage I can see. Some small dings on the stock, no signs of sanding or refinishing. Wood ramrod looks origin to me. See Flicker album for all details. There was one brass barrel blunderbuss sold over $7000 + fees and tax in June. I am asking $5800, shipping on buyer if needed.
