Here is a great example of early production Tokyo Arsenal built Arisaka Type 38. There is no series marking before the 5-digit serial number indicates early production. Wood and metal are both in good condition, no rust, pitting or cracks. Blue finish in general good condition, some small parts are covered by patina. Dust cover still present. Mum is over stamped by circles indicates retired from military service. The “文” kanji means it has been transferred to school or university for militia training. The “中大” on the belly of the stock is Chuo University (中央大学) in Hachioji. One of the oldest universities in Japan. Unfortunately the assembly numbers are not matching since it could be used in the university for reassembly drills. Bolt matches itself though. Origin cleaning rod presents. I haven’t shot it since I don’t have 6.5 jap ammo, but it manually cycles very well. Bore is dark but rifling still strong. See flicker album for details. It has a long history and would be great for collecting and shooting. Asking $1850, shipping on buyer if needed.
