Number 4 Mk1 made at ROF Maltby in 1942. War expedited cocking piece suggests this started life as an issued WW2 rifle. It has since been sporterized, although it retains its original 25.25” barrel, with a good bore still, and matching serial numbers on the bolt, receiver, and barrel. 10 round magazine is non-matching serial number, however works flawlessly.
Sporter stock with rubber buttpad, wood is in really good condition, butt swivel and barrel band swivel for sling. Original sights have been replaced with Sheard Match front dovetail blade on ramp, rear sights removed and replaced with peep aperture sight.
Matching numbers and original uncut barrel would make this a perfect candidate for a full restoration to milspec, or could be kept and used as the great shooting rifle it is.
