Wolfgang Adlhoch designed and manufactured this rifle. He is a professional gunsmith in Waterloo, QC, longtime shooter, Mauser aficionado and formerly an active and official in the Canadian Shooters Association.

You should see his workshop. Lathe, milling, the whole shebang. He set out to build the Ultimate Blue (that how he called it) with the intention of building a "one hole gun", which it turned out to be.

The pictures tell the story and the target tell the results, at 100m. Yes, there are five bullets that went in these two groupings, smaller than 0,5 inches for the one on the left. Not bad considering the projectiles diameter, .308".

He started out with a large ring Mauser M96 large ring action, one of the sturdiest ever made and reprocessed everything, sans blasting, sanding, peening and polishing. Refer to the manufacturing certificate picture: the full-floating barrel comes from Krieger.. The "furniture" layout is his design, made of select elm and painted blue-turquoise. (The Zeiss scope mounted on it in the pictures is not part of the deal, only mounted to prop up the display.) It has some "comfort amenities": adjustable cheek-piece, palm rest and a front bipod that swivels in all direction, with two "subs" to adjust the point of balance of the ensemble to your preference.

There was no compromise. The insides of the chamber was cut to fit specifically and optimally a very specific ammunition: the Federal Premium Gold Medal (w/ Sierra Matchking 168gr. bullet. I kept the box I tried it with (visible in the pictures): 16 rounds were fired in all by me and about the same by him. In the test target picture, there is a grouping wade with another ammunition (the Lapua 175 gr. Scena-L) which did not perform as well. Shooting was done by sharpshooter Borislav Daminov in September 2018.

There are a few minor nicks here and there on the metal peened finish ("love bites..." my wife calls them). The only thing ugly in this project is the case he gave me to carry it out of his shop. It's a kind of artefact for me, a reminder of where the careful attention was put, not on packaging, but on content and performance.

Why did I buy this rifle and not use it ? I'm not a competitor and frankly, I can't do justice to this rifle. I see Wolfy as a kind of Mozart, an artist and we need to support the excellence which is their trademark.
