Remember the guy from Montreal with the paper clip who eventually traded up to a house? I'm doing that, but with gun stuff and working towards a set of NVG's, or as far as I can go until I get tired of the game and decide to stop.
I started with a box of 17 HMR, traded that for a Bushnell Banner 6-18x AO scope, and traded that for this nice old J. Stevens 20 gauge pump shotgun.
I stripped it down, cleaned it, cold blued the metal parts and reassembled it. I haven't fired it but I did function test it and can confirm that the firing pin strikes strong, and the safety works. It also has a plug in the magazine tube. Previous owner did fire it as well.
The bore is in excellent condition with no visible pitting and aside and from a few nicks in the stock from hunting, and 2 small (stable) cracks on the pump handle, it is a better quality shotgun than reasonable money would buy today. The checkering is still proud and the wood has that rich antique brown colour which old guns have.
It shoulders well, with a nice hard plastic butt plate and swings and points beautifully.
Please note it is choked "full" and only takes 2 3/4" shells.
What do you have kicking around that you don't need or want and are willing to trade. Guns? Scopes? Project truck? Canoe? Farm equipment?
Try me with whatever you've got. I'm located in Moose Jaw, SK if you want to wheel and deal face to face.
I'm also willing to disassemble and ship it (once Canada Post strike is over)
