This Merkel Model 8 is a 12ga 2 3/4” double barrel side by side shotgun having 28” barrels, with extractors, and all numbers are matching. Receiver and plastic buttplate marked SUHL. Barrel marked Special-Gewehrlaufstahl and GERR. Made in GDR (German Democratic Republic) during the Berlin Wall era. Barrel flats marked 680, indicating manufacture in June of 1980. Please note: Stock is solid but it has some hair line cracks by the wrist and the forearm release spring is weak. Please view pictures. I have shot this firearm and believe it to be in good working order. However, to have a qualified gunsmith look over before shooting, is always a good idea. PAL and a second photo ID required, which will be needed to obtain a reference number from the CFP.
