This is a British Army flack vest, it was worn under a camouflage smock to provide protection against flying splinters, shrapnel or pistol bullets. It was of the type used in many conflict zones where British troops were serving in the 1980s and on. Small rip under one arm as shown in photos, has that nice vintage army warehouse smell too. This is a small size vest and they are talking about a small size SOLDIER who is in good shape. It will accept 6.5x8.5 inch ballistic plates which I also have listed. Which were to provide protection against rifle bullets. This is a n Army surplus item from my collection. You have to assume that the Army sold it off for a reason, do not go thinking it will offer the same or any protection against jackass type stunts. I have used this vest with my younger nephew who wanted to see tannerite targets being blown up just in case a splinter might have hit him and to impress upon him that safety equipment is important and that tannerite is dangerous. He’s older now and this vest wouldn’t fit him. Plus, his safety is more or less his own problem.
